New York Studio Session

About three years ago my dad promised he'd take me to New York someday. This April we finally managed to arrange the trip. We had a great time, really enjoyed the city. Visited the Empire State, Miss Liberty, Ellis Island, saw HAIR on Broadway (which is phenomenal, I recommend anybody who's given the chance to go see it to do so), went to a comedy club, visited the Apple Store, took a sunday morning stroll through Central Park, anything we could think off! I think it's safe to say New York's now officially my number one city in the world.

Considering the talented pianist Rich Lucey (RL82 on youtube) and myself had done some collaberations over the internet before, I figured we could meet somewhere in New York to have a little jam session. He's from New Jersey so not too long of a trip on his behalf. I kept looking for music stores where we could meet and record some stuff but eventually figured I'd be better off looking for an affordable studio to have some fun at! While searching the internet I stumbled upon Lofish studios, a studio superclose to the hotel we were staying at (Pennsylvania Hotel) and Penn Station so convenient for both me and Rich. The studio is owned by Walter Fishbacher and Elisabeth Lohninger, two amazingly talented jazz musicians and just has an amazing vibe!

The four of us (Rich, Asheya, my dad and myself) met at our hotel somewhere in the morning and grabbed something to eat before heading off to the studio. Good day to spend indoors cause it was absolutely pouring out. It just wouldn't stop raining! We arrived at the studio and sat down on the couch in the main room just chatting a bit. The guy we were talking with later on turned out to be our engineer for the day, Reed Taylor. After everything was set up we headed in to record some stuff. We had an absolute blast and it's a truly unforgettable experience. Not everything we've recorded has been mixed and edited and 'made public' but here's an overview of everything we've uploaded to youtube:
